Slowing Down

I've slowed down a bit, because sometimes routine gets boring.

After I completed my first tutorial, I started a second one. This one will be about the git reflog command. I would've finished it this weekend, but I focused a little more on life.

Personally, I took one day to step outside of my nightly routine and did absolutely nothing for one day. Routine is great for keeping things steady and progressing towards personal goals, but sometimes a break is needed.

I enjoyed writing the last tutorial, so I'm doing a few more. The number five comes to mind. I want all the tutorials for now to be about Git, but I also just want to mention the practical stuff I find useful. The git reflog command falls under the "practical stuff" category. I believe I'm two sessions away from finishing it, at most. It'll definitely be ready next week.

Life

My knee is still messed up. I'll have to lift a little less than I did this week. Unfortunately, these types of setbacks are frustrating. My mind tells me I'm okay, because I'm not in pain when I exercise, but afterwards, I can feel it.

Aside from the exercising, I took a day to completely do nothing. Sometimes, routine really bothers me. It's a tricky thing, because the more consistent I become, the more results I see. At the same time, the higher levels of consistency tend to make me feel trapped. I start thinking, "Well, I'm going to do this again..." I suppose that's a normal thing, so taking a day or two off can help me feel reenergized. I feel reenergized now. In fact, as I write this entry I feel like I want to write more. I feel like I want to continue working on my tutorial at this moment, but it's late and sleep is important.

A totally unrelated matter. I occasionally listen to old music and I was recently listening to One More Time by Daft Punk. I always thought the video was neat. A bunch of pop star aliens playing a concert, just like humans do! Then YouTube auto-played the Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, which also featured the same anime cartoon in the video. I thought, "This looks like an interesting anime movie, I wonder what movie they're using for their music?" It turns out Daft Punk created the anime movie, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, to go with their album. It's very well done and worth a watch if you like electronic music and sci-fi.
