Temporary Regression

I'm struggling to get back to my regular routine and now I'm physically noticing it

Project Progress

Project Week Project Hours
Mon, May 24 - Sun, May 30 0.5

This is the least amount of time I've spent on a side project within a week. The time I managed to get for my side project was spent on getting the Facebook login set up properly for testing. I need my local project to serve https instead of http, so Facebook's API doesn't complain. What's interesting is that there are a few ways to do this. If I want to set it up quickly then I can just run ng serve --ssl and a cert will be automatically generated for me. I would then have to allow Chrome to not care about self-signed certs if they are used with localhost. This will only work for Chrome though. Usually that's good enough, but I'm going to take the long route, so I can test with any browser on my computer.

Life

I've now missed more than two weeks worth of workouts. I managed to squeeze one in last week, but that's it. This would really be no big deal, but now I'm starting to notice it in my physique. What's worse is that I'm starting to feel a sore pain in my wrists that I haven't felt in a long time. My legs are starting to feel weaker as well. It's incredible really. I'm making it sound like I'm starting to fall apart, but I'm not. I'm just going back to how I felt before I started working out.

There are lot of interesting things that I noticed as I missed that scheduled time where I work on my personal projects and my health. The most interesting though, is the cascading effect that some "good" habits can have.

The simple act of exercising does the following for me:

  1. Makes me feel stronger and actually makes me stronger.
  2. Reduces or eliminates any pain I may have had when I didn't exercise regularly.
  3. Helps me get a more restful sleep.
  4. Makes me feel more confident about how I look. (This can be seen as vain, but I think it's fine as long it doesn't go to my head)
  5. Makes me think about how I can be healthy in other ways, like thinking twice about what I eat.

Working on personal projects does the following for me:

  1. Allows me to express myself.
  2. Pushes me to grow.
  3. Helps me learn more about myself.
  4. Satisfies my need to create.

The points I listed are no longer true for me since I've been missing my regular workouts and personal project time. I want to remind anyone that's reading this, that I'm just talking about myself. That's why I put the word 'good' in quotes, because that's relative to me and what I'm trying to accomplish. I didn't intend to get into what exercising and projects do for me, but when I noticed some of the physical pain that had gone away for so long come back, I wanted to spell out what these activities do for me.

This week, I'll be back at again. Harder, better, faster, stronger.
